Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We hiked up to see what the view would be and it was amazing, to our surprise there was a lovely small cafe at the top too. Great atmosphere and food, the host was really nice and had some great stories to share. Very worth while checking out, hope to visit again at some point. TIP: bring cash, no card payments at the time of writing ."
"Very nice spot, worth your visit! The building was abandoned for 20 years, but got a new owner 3 years ago who made it a very cosy place again! A large outdoor terrace with lovely views over the wine ranks in the valley. Make the climb, as a tourist or a local, his appreciation will be guaranteed in quality beers/wines/foods. Open in winter with cosy bonfires outside. We'll be back for the chef's cuisine. Thanks Joseph!"
"Positive surprise after our hike! Super friendly staff and a good variety of drinks and food. A cool location after our walk in Traben-Trarbach. They only accept cash!"
"Beautiful little cabin cafe at the top of the hill. We warmed up with a nice drink, very cosy interior. A bit pricy especially for the drinks we had though."
"This place is amazing! We had the opportunity to have a small chat with the new owner and I can absolutely say: I highly recommend visiting the place! The cold and windy weather further enhances the cozy atmosphere there: little fireplace, warm coffee or tee, very soft and nice furniture... Just beautiful! Greetings from the group of five Bulgarians"
"Spectacular setting, beautiful place, friendly bar service."
"Excellent place with beautiful views. Large outdoor beer garden with plenty of tables and shade. If you walk through the woods to get here, it’s definitely worth it to come to this restaurant. Very nice wine selection and fresh food. It’s self service, go up to counter to order and choose where you want to sit, there are sunny and shaded spots. The staff is very friendly. And, the owner really takes the time to talk to his customers. We will definitely come back again."
"Such a special place. I've been here many times before the pandemic and a few after. If you could give "atmosphere" 6 stars, I would. Don't expect this to be fine dining, but everything is good, fresh, and served in a caring manner... all while enjoying some of the finest views anywhere. Even better, this time I was introduced to a new couple, only recently moved to Traben Trarbach, who now run the place. Their English was great, my German atrocious :). We had great conversations about Formula 1, how Traben Trarbach has changed, and their holiday plans, etc. Even if the eating/drinking wasn't great, or the view not so awesome, I'd come back just because they are so kind and engaging. A "can't go wrong" place!"
